Visual Aid: Seek the Lord while he may be found

Seek the Lord while he may be found

“I will put you in a cleft of the rock”

In Exodus 33 God places Moses in a cleft of a rock as God himself passes by.  God did this to save Moses’ life and yet allow him to catch an indirect glimpse of his glory.

In Isaiah chapter 2 men try to hide from the terror of God by hiding in the clefts of rocks.

In both passages men hide in the cleft of a rock to escape death in the presence of God’s majesty and glory.  In Exodus God hid Moses to protect him as if to tell all men in the future that God knows about the clefts of rocks.  In Isaiah, men forget that God knows about the clefts of rocks and try to hide from judgment.  God knows about the clefts of rocks!  There is nowhere to hide from his wrath!  Seek peace with God through his Son Jesus Christ!

Isaiah 55:6 “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;”
