Visual Aid: When I am afraid, I will trust in God

When I am afraid, I will trust in God. Psalm 56:3

Psalm 56:3 “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”  We will face situations in life that are life threatening, dangerous, uncomfortable and difficult.  Through all of it, God is with us, and wants us to share our burdens with him.  He can give us a sound mind in the face of fear.

What a difference there is between how we behave when we are afraid and how we behave with a sound mind!  Fear can causes us to freeze up or make rash and ill-conceived decisions but a sound mind lends itself to proper actions based on rational and well-reasoned processes.

God wants us to trust in him but he also empowers us with a sound mind to make good decisions.  When we are gripped by fear we should share our burden with Jesus and carefully consider our circumstance and use the sound mind that God gives us.
