“And he [God] said [to Elijah], “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.” 1 Kings 19:11-12
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO OUR FAMILY?
When this event occurred, Elijah was running away from Jezebel and felt alone. He believed that he was the only man left that was faithful to God. He was wrong. God told him that there were yet 7,000 others.
God has never left his people alone. Not only is God always with his people, we must not forget that we are his children – and he has many other children. Just as we love our brothers and sisters, cousins and other family, we should love God’s other children as well.
When we feel alone and isolated, it could be because we need to fellowship with God’s people.
