God tells us that even while we were in our mother’s womb He knew us. He knew all of our parts, where they were, how they would form, what they would become. His knowledge of us goes far beyond knowing us in the womb. He knew us in eternity past and he has written our names in the Lamb’s book of Life. He has graven us upon the palms of his hands and he has sent his Son to die for us.
Why would God tell us that he knows these things, that he knew us in the womb? Of course he is all knowing, but this is more intimate, more personal. God knows his people and loves them, not just from the moment they are saved, but from before we are born. And he will love us throughout all eternity!
Psalm 139:13-16 “13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”
