Psalm 103:19 “The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.”
People have been staring up into the heavens for as long as we have walked the earth. From simply staring at the stars to intensely studying the science of how they work, mankind has always been curious about what lies beyond the confines of our world.
Sadly, as is often the case, we live in an age when we use our increasing knowledge of the universe to distance ourselves from God instead of drawing closer to him.
The pursuit of knowledge is encouraged by God’s Word, so we know that desiring to know more about his creation is not evil. However, we live in an age when our brightest scientists and our leaders use our increase in knowledge as a means to suppress the knowledge of God, not to expand upon it.
Next time we look up at the stars, remember that God has declared himself to be greater than His creation. Meditate on his Word while admiring His creation.
