Visual Aid: Build Altars

Genesis 12:7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.

Description

“And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.” Genesis 12:7

It has been said that one could follow the path Abraham followed on his journeys by following the trail of altars that he built. Why did he build so many altars? At least in part these were places he would go to speak to the Lord. However, an altar is not limited to being used by a single individual. Abraham no doubt taught his family, his servants and all those who followed him that they were to pray to the Lord God who brought him out of his home country. The altars were visible reminders to his children, servants and descendants that their heritage was from God Almighty and that he was the only God they were to worship.

What visible reminders are we leaving for our children and descendants to remind them of our Godly heritage?
