Heaven cannot contain God

2 Chronicles 2:4-6

4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel. 5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods. 6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

Romans 12:1

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 Chronicles 2:19-20

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

DAILY PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you that you have made us a living temple for the Holy Spirit. Thank you for forgiving our sins and giving us a new life and new hope of an eternal home. Help us to be true to your word and to your calling. Help us to present our bodies to you as a living sacrifice each and every day. Help us to overcome the sins that so frequently tempt us that we might live a fuller life in you and in your Word. Thank you that you chose to make the ultimate sacrifice through your Son, Christ Jesus and help us to ever be mindful of that sacrifice and that love that we do not deserve but so desperately need.
