Small Plant Seedling Isolated on White
In Luke 13:18-13, Jesus states “Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

Great things start small.  Your family devotions and your family’s faith may be nothing more than a seed, but with a little effort, it can grow into a mighty thing.

Daily devotionals and prayers

Reading a daily devotional can be a great addition to anyone’s spiritual journey.  There are countless devotionals available both online and in book form.  Bible Gateway ( is a great source for many such devotionals and much more.  I have always loved “Morning and Evening” by Charles Spurgeon, but there are many other excellent devotionals.  Currently, Refrigerator Devotionals has only one daily devotional guide available.  “Heavenly Devotions” is a simple to follow daily devotional that pairs space imagery with Bible verses and a daily prayer.  This devotional, like all of the other materials, is available free on this website and can also be obtained in book or Kindle format from Amazon.

Sustaining your efforts

Even the best intentions and the best efforts can fail us at times. There are, however, tools and techniques that can help to sustain us on our path. Simple daily reminders of our faith can help to sustain us even during the most hectic or difficult part of our lives. A few simple thoughts…

Consider signing up for a daily Bible verse via text message. These little nuggets of scripture can help to keep us thinking on God and on his Word even when we are distracted by something else. At this time, the Refrigerator Devotionals site does not offer this specific service, but we do recommend the Daily Bible Verse service which you can find here. They offer both a daily Bible verse as well as verses on demand. God has used this service in my life and I believe it can be useful to you as well.

We are the children of God and God wants us to spend time with each other. If you have a Bible study group or Sunday school group or small group, you are encouraged to take advantage of this. We will spend eternity with these people and getting to know them now can have an amazingly positive effect on our lives.

If you have a smartphone, there are several good Bible apps and other guides. We recommend “Olive Tree Bible+Maps” and “Bible” by Both of these apps provide for easy Bible reading on your phone in several Bible translations. Other features include daily Bible verses, quick searching of topics/verses, maps, etc. There are many others to choose from as well.
